Garden Share
GARDEN SHARE is now up and running in Lancaster!
The current contact/coordinator is Samagita
There are lots of people in Lancaster living in flats and terraced houses with little or no garden who would love to have a little plot to cultivate. The waiting lists for allotments is testament to this. Lancaster also has people with gardens and land who, for what ever reason, are not able to maintain it.
This local initiative for and by local people aims to bring together the people with a bit of garden or land, with a gardener who wants to grow vegetables, fruit and flowers but are frustrated by a lack of land. The Garden Share project creates a list, helps match and introduces committed, enthusiastic, and respectful growers with local garden owners who want to see their gardens being used more productively.
We offer to provide the connection, explain the commitment involved for all concerned and to nurture the growing of community as well as food.
To The Garden Owner
Do you have an unused corner of garden that you would be happy to share with a grower? Had enough of life as a nettle-farmer? Use your un-used plot to grow cabbages, connections – even friends!
What could I get out of this?
• A share of the produce
• The pleasure of seeing a lovely developing vegetable plot
• Being part of a sharing initiative
• A sense of community
To The Gardener
Do you dream about having a small patch of land for growing your own vegetables, fruit and flowers?
The Garden Share Project can put you in touch with owners of underused gardens who would like to share their space with a local garden grower. If you'd love to have a little patch to garden then please contact us.
It's a lovely way to grow more veg and grow more community
