The Heart and Soul group are at the start of an exciting project reaching out to the various faith communities in Lancaster. They have developed some interview/discussion questions and are working towards recording and filming responses.. The notes of their meeting on Jan 11th 2010 are here.

Heart & Soul Questionnaire - summer 2009.

We want to reach out to everyone in the Transition City Lancaster, for you to help us think about the best way we can be of service. Perhaps if we can generate beneficial actions for people connected with Transition City Lancaster, in the first instance, that could later extend to benefit for Lancaster as a whole. So please think about offering us some answers to our few questions in our online questionnaire.

Initial meetings looked at the purpose of the Heart and Soul group?: Three areas were proposed:

External - taking the idea of personal and collective change out into the wider community by telling new stories of the world we need to move into, breaking oil and resource addiction etc.
Internal - support ourselves within the heart and soul group by ensuring we meet the needs of our own hearts and souls and strengthen each other with love and respect.
Within Transition Town - providing support and ideas about Heart and Soul to the local transition network

What can we offer as a group in these areas?

Overall we want to ease the transition process to a world that lives within its means

Power and Empowerment Training - encouraging people that they can create changes personally, in communities and globally.
Systems Thinking - running educational activities on the holistic, integral understanding of how all life is interdependent.
Gaia and Deep Ecology - Understanding our relationships with the Earth and Universe in a new way.
Book Group - A reading or study group plus a library of resources.
Art for the Heart - using the arts to reach the heart of paradigm change.
House Groups - small inspiration and support group for those who want to work through their joy, hopes and fears about the crisis and opportunities our world faces.
Film showings - Inspirational and powerful way to share our message and aims.
Open Space - Events to catalyse the power and ideas of others.
Transition Newspaper - Write and produce a new story to Lancaster along the lines of a local Positive News.
Create inspiring Posters - Create a powerful image
