TCL Steering Group
The present Steering Group has evolved from the original founding group of TCL. The SG membership changes at each AGM. The details on how this all works are in the TCL Constitution. The delegates are selected by the active interest groups of TCL.
As a Steering Group we want to encourage as many people as possbile to be positive, practical and expansive in creating a resilient Lancaster. We wish to inspire a strong flow of creative ideas and projects across the City.
The SG currently comprises six delegates their photos and contact details are below - please get in touch with any one of them to raise any issues or questions at all . . . we meet the second and forth wednesdays of each month.
At the bottom of this page is an update of recent issues discussed in the SG.

The steering group exists at the centre of the honeycomb connecting TCL with the wider transition network. Our core aims are:
- Connecting and supporting the special interest groups to develop initiatives and projects
- Linking the groups with one another
- Initiating new interest groups where gaps exist
- Connecting in as many new people as possible through events, projects and the web pages – maintaining the membership database
- Holding the TCL vision
- Ensuring all groups and projects are based in a resilient local response to peak oil and climate change
- Developing TCL overview - strategies, priorities and the Great Unleashing
- Creating the Lancaster Energy Descent Plan
- Making bids for funding for the Lancaster network as a whole, holding the TCL bank account and keeping accounts
- Developing the TCL Constitution and ensuring AGMs etc
- Providing training and networking events, web site and newsletter
- Agreeing TCL affiliation to any other local or national organisations
- Making it all fun and enjoyable and sustainable.
In June '10 we adopted an Equal Opportunities policy - you can see this by clicking here.
Steering Group notes . . . .
We used to put up Bullet Point notes of every meeting but they were bunging up the web so nowadays we are simply updating this page with info on current discussions. As always - if you want to know more just ask the SG member in your group, or if you're not in a group, just drop a line directly to one of the members. This current page has details of all SG members and their contacts. Or else contact info@transitioncitylancaster.org
Dec 2011 update
For the past several months we have been discussing in depth what legal form TCL will most helpfully take in the future. These have been long and complex discussions and we are nearly there. Whew! Thank you everyone who responded to requests for help and advice via the e newsletters.
We also host the monthly network meetings and respond to a host of enquiries and requests for info, stalls, speakers etc etc.
We also spend time working out how best to connect the whole of TCL and how best to make decisions and to communicate info among us all. The SG oversees the whole of TCL and especially these web pages and the e newsletters which we produce.
We constantly work on how we work together and we evolve new ways of working to keep the twice monthly meetings enjoyable as well as effective. We often eat together before meetings and we are resolving the various blips and bumps that inevitably arise between us. From time to time we have 'away days' to look at bigger issues in depth.
Anyone who's interested in being a member of the SG needs to raise this in their group - as the groups do the selecting!
