food during the second world war in Lancashire.

An opportunity for those who remember to instruct those of us who don't on
the joint issues of methods of food production and the significance of
community at challenging times.

These films initiate a potential project piloted by Transition Education

experience we may learn from to counter the crises we face around food
security and community resilience.

The Carbon Footprint of Everything

Tuesday 21 September - From 6.30pm (Speaker 7.15pm)

Mike Berners-Lee - A Transition Cafe event at the Gregson Centre

Kicking off an exciting new series of "Transition Cafes" at the Gregson centre, Mike Berners-Lee will talk about his new book that unearths some surprising facts about the carbon footprint of all aspects of life - from the everyday (e.g. bananas) to the more unusual (e.g. volcanic eruptions). There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. It's also a great opportunity to enjoy some food and a drink in this uniquely informal yet informing atmosphere! Word has it that the Gregson do a good dinner (click here to see their website and menu) so come along and join in from 6.30pm. Hope to see you there!

November 27

TRANSITION FOR ALL ?

Saturday 27 November - 10am-4pm
Friend's Meeting House

"The whole thing with Transition from the start is that it's a compassionate response. And it's a response that's based on the understanding that either we all do it or none of us do it."

Rob Hopkins, 2010

Whether your interest in Transition is food, energy, skills or anything else, there is an undeniable logic at the heart of Transition that will affect the success of any new idea or plan - it will ultimately only work if it's shared and community-based.

This one-day training workshop with Catrina Pickering, Diversity Co-ordinator from the Transition Network, aims to bring together some of us who are already involved and interested in Transition here in Lancaster to think about how it becomes more widely shared, welcoming to and including all segments of the community. This is not about political correctness, it's about learning how to mix a core and necessary ingredient of the "Transition cake" into what we do today - after all, you can't add flour to the cake once its started to bake!

Further details to come - so watch this space!
