Sewing cafe

In Lancaster Library - in the meeting room

2-5 pm - every monday afternoon.

 

Come and learn some 'make it, mend it' skills in good company with teas and coffees available. No charge. We're experimenting with rag rugs at the monment as well as the usual hand and machine sewing. If anyone wants to join in or donate clean textiles any shape any size they can be cut into strips which is possible - even with a t.shirt. Great fun. More info from Wendy winschild4@gmail.com

POTATOES . . . for sale

If you missed the day event on sat 28th - it is still possible to buy some seed potatoes.

Viv has them in her cellar - and will sell them on to you . . her e mail is whitetara@hotmail.co.uk There are about 16 varieties - all organic - and they cost 15p each.

TCL Network Meeting

as always - the first wednesday of the month at 7.30 in the Friends Meeting House.

All welcome.

 

In December we started a big conversation about what shape we want for TCL over the coming year - what we want to create and how we can best bring that into being. There was an excellent discussion and sharing among us in groups. We'll be continuing this conversation at the feb meeting. Please come and join in . . . .

 

This is a great way to meet some of the folks transitioning in Lancaster and to find out whats already happening. Free - with donations welcome to meet the room costs. tea and biccies available and mostly we go to the pub after to continue conversations . . . . . .

FILM - 'IN TRANSITION 2.0'

PREVIEW of BIG NEW INTERNATIONAL TRANSITION FILM AT THE DUKES

EXCITING !!!!

 

Thurs Feb 2nd, 8pm in the Gallery Room.

 

Tickets from the Dukes box office[598500] £3, which can

be redeemed at the bar for a drink of your choice.

 

This is a preview of the latest international film from the Transition Network. Some of it was shot in Lancaster - come and spot your friends . . . This event is a preview before the main launch of the whole film in March. Please note that the proposed interactive video link after the film - with Totnes and the WORLD - will not now be happening - due to technical probs worldwide!

 

TICKETS - There is limited seating available in the 'Gallery' and it is likely that quite a few folk will want to come and see this preview - so - it is strongly recomended that you get tickets in advance. Tickets will be available at the Potato Day on 28th, at the Network Meeting on 1st Feb, or directly from the Dukes. Any spare tickets will be on sale on the night at the Dukes. TCL will be getting a copy of the film and aiming to show it many times in the months to come - do if you can't make this preview - don't panic!

DEEP ECOLOGY GROUP MEETING

 

Sunday 12th Feb

 

From 7 - 9 pm at the Friends Meeting House.

This is an open meeting and everyone is very welcome.

Please arrive at 10 to 7 as the meeting starts at 7 and it is difficult to get access to the building after we start!

 

We are a 'self organising' meeting - sharing ideas, inspirations and good conversations around the general theme of 'deep ecoplogy. We also share Joanna Macy's work.

 

We generally meet the second sunday of the month. please see the 'groups page' for more info or give Margaret a call.

We are quite an active bunch with lots of different practical projects on the go - also a keen interest in the longer term food security issues - so please do feel free to come and join in -whatever way suits you!

Planning and Planting

a small orchard

Learn the basics of fruit tree selection and planting techniques for gardens and small orchards. Help create a design and planting plan for a community orchard on the new Greenfinger's allotment site in Heysham.

 

The training will be delivered by Lancaster Green Spaces
(registered charity no 1046701) on behalf of the Greenfinger's new allotment project in Heysham, and Lancashire County Council - in conjunction with TCL.

Booking is essential. There is no fee for this training as it is funded through the Greenfinger's new allotment project. Please consider making a donation to the Greenfinger's allotment project.

Energy, Building and Design for life group

Ideas and Projects for this year are starting to take shape - If you are interested in energy, how we can reduce our needs, generate our own, improve local information for the local situation. If you want to help and get involved in these ideas or have some of your own then you are very welcome to come along. Refreshments will be available and a friendly welcome guarenteed.

Time 10.30 start, finish 5pm (1hr later than last year)

Transition Film night at the Dukes.

There will be a discussion led by transition folks after the Tuesday screening.

 

'The Garden' tells the story of the USA's largest urban farm, a 14 acre oasis in LA created after the devastating riots in 1992. After creating a miracle in a neighbourhood blighted by disharmony the farmers are challenged by backroom deals, land developers, green politics, money, poverty, power and racial discord.

Riverside foraging walk with Julia Russell

A guided walk along the River Lune towards Caton in search of edible and medicinal plants


Meet by the River Lune, next to the Green Ayre skateboard park, Parliament Street, Lancaster.
All surplus monies from this walk go to Transition City Lancaster.

 

No need to book on walks, just turn up and pay on the evening.
We will start promptly.
We will walk whatever the weather, so sturdy shoes and waterproofs are recommended.

Midsummer urban foraging walk

A guided walk in the centre of the city of Lancaster in search of the edible and medicinal plants of midsummer.
Meet on the cycle path at the south side of the Millennium Bridge, Lancaster

All surplus monies from this walk go to Transition City Lancaster.

No need to book on walks,just turn up and pay on the evening. We will start promptly. We will walk whatever the weather, so sturdy shoes and waterproofs are recommended.
